Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts the name here is written "Arumah" (with the ra' before the waw), while we have recorded it as "Awramah" (with the waw before the ra'), in agreement with most of the other places that will come with the author (al-Hakim).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): As for this narrator "Muhammad bin Ibrahim", we could not find his biography (tarjamah) in the sources available to us, nor any narration of his except in al-Hakim's "al-Mustadrak", and there too narrations from him come only through his shaykh Abu 'Abd Allah al-Saffar al-Zahid; so on this basis he is "majhul" (unknown).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Among the well-known narrators is "Ibrahim bin Awramah" (with the waw first), who is Ibrahim bin Awramah Abu Ishaq al-Asbahani al-Hafiz; he settled in Baghdad and died in 266 AH (as found in Siyar A'lam al-Nubala' 13/ 145-146 and elsewhere); but none of those who wrote his biography mentioned that he had a son named "Muhammad". And Allah the Exalted knows best.
Grading: Its chain is weak because Muhammad bin Ibrahim al-Asbahani is alone in narrating it as "mawsul", and he is unknown (as mentioned). Technical note / Defect ('illah): The remaining narrators of the chain are, overall, thiqah. Moreover, this report has been narrated through several other routes from al-Awza'i as "mursal" (al-Awza'i from Yahya al-Saybani from Hudhayfah), because Yahya al-Saybani did not live in the time of Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him).
Reference / Source: Abu 'Ubayd narrated it in "al-Iman" (21), Ibn Abi Shaybah (11/ 40), 'Abd Allah bin Ahmad in "al-Sunnah" (663), al-Tabari in the Musnad of Ibn 'Abbas from "Tahdhib al-Athar" (2/ 646, 647, 67), al-Khallal in "al-Sunnah" (1356, 1369), al-Ajurri in "al-Shari'ah" (298, 299), Ibn Battah in "al-Ibanah al-Kubra" (12/ 887, 892), and al-Lalaka'i in "Usul al-I'tiqad" (1717), through various routes from Abu 'Amr al-Awza'i; but in none of them is "Ibn al-Daylami" mentioned in the chain. (Note: Ibn al-Daylami is 'Abd Allah bin Fayruz.)
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: al-Lalaka'i (1800) narrated it in similar wording through the route of "Baqiyyah", from Isma'il bin 'Ayyash, from 'Abd al-Wahhab bin Mujahid, from his father, from Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him). Technical note / Defect ('illah): In this chain "'Abd al-Wahhab" is a matruk (abandoned) narrator, and in the chain leading to him is "Baqiyyah bin al-Walid", who is not very strong, and in addition he is notorious for "tadlis al-taswiyah".
