Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 8357

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that, after stoning that man from the tribe of Aslam, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed (the people) and said: "Avoid these filthy deeds which Allah has forbidden. Whoever falls into any such sin should conceal himself with the veil of Allah and repent to Allah, for whoever reveals his condition to us, we will carry out upon him (the prescribed punishment of) the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."

Hadith Grading
Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (2) This hadith is "hasan li-ghayrihi"; the narrators of this isnad are thiqah (trustworthy), but there is disagreement in it over Yahya bin Sa'id (al-Ansari), narrating from Abd Allah bin Dinar, as to whether it is "mawsul" or "mursal". Technical note / Defect ('illah): The preponderant view is that it is mursal, as al-Daraqutni said in "al-'Ilal" (2811). A detailed discussion of it has passed at its repeated occurrence, number (7807).
