تُصَلِّي الْمَرْأَةُ فِي دِرْعٍ وَخِمَارٍ لَيْسَ عَلَيْهَا إِزَارٌ إِذَا كَانَ الدِّرْعُ سَابِغًا يُغَطِّي ظُهُورَ قَدَمَيْهَا
A woman may pray in a long shirt and headcover without a lower garment if the shirt is long enough to cover the tops of her feet

أخبرني يحيى بن منصور القاضي، حدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن محمد بن رجاء، حدثنا صفوان بن صالح الدمشقي، حدثنا الوليد بن مسلم، حدثنا زهير بن محمد التَّميمي، حدثنا زيد بن أسلمَ قال: رأيتُ ابنَ عمر يصلِّي محلولٌ إزارُه، فسألتُه عن ذلك فقال: رأيتُ رسولَ الله ﷺ يفعلُه (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

Zayd bin Aslam narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) praying in a state where the fastening of his lower wrap was undone. I asked him about this and he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) doing the same.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(1) إسناده ضعيف، زهير بن محمد رواية أهل الشام عنه غير مستقيمة وهذا منها، وقد ذكر هذا الحديث الترمذيُّ في "العلل الكبير" (713) ونقل إعلاله عن محمد - وهو البخاري -.
Grading: (1) Its chain is da'if.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The narrations of the people of Syria from Zuhayr bin Muhammad are not sound (mustaqim), and this is one of them. Imam al-Bukhari also declared it defective (mu'all) (al-Ilal al-Kabir of al-Tirmidhi 713).
وأخرجه ابن حبان (5453) عن محمد بن الحسن بن قتيبة، عن صفوان بن صالح، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (5453) narrated it from Muhammad bin al-Hasan bin Qutaybah, from Safwan bin Salih, with this same chain.
