فحدَّثنا بصحة ما ذكره أبو عليٍّ: عبدُ الله بن إسحاق الخُراساني، حدَّثنا محمد بن أحمد بن بُرْد الأنطاكي، حدَّثنا الحَكَم بن نافع البَهْراني، حدَّثنا حَريز بن عثمان، عن أبي الحسن نِمْران بن مِخمَر (2)، عن شُرَحبيل بن أوس - وكان من أصحاب النبيِّ ﷺ عن النبيِّ ﷺ قال: "إذا شَرِبَ الخمرَ فاجلِدُوه، ثم إن شَرِبَ فاجلِدُوه، ثم إن شَرِبَ فاجلِدُوه، ثم إن شَربَ الرابعة فاقتُلوه" (3). وأما حديثُ النَّفَر من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Shurahbil bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) (who was a Companion of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When someone drinks wine, flog him; then if he drinks again, flog him; then if he drinks a third time, flog him; and if he drinks a fourth time, kill him."

Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) In the handwritten manuscripts this name has been corrupted into "Muhammad".
(3) إسناده محتمل للتحسين من أجل نمران بن مخمر، فقد روى عنه اثنان، وذكره ابن حبان في "ثقاته" 7/ 545،، ونقل البخاري في "تاريخه" 8/ 120 عن محمد بن الوليد الزبيدي تصريحه بالسماع من صحابيه الذي قيل في اسمه: شرحبيل بن أوس، وقيل أيضًا: أوس بن شرحبيل. حريز: هو ابن عثمان الحجبي.
Grading: (3) Its chain could possibly be graded hasan because of Nimran bin Mikhmar; two narrators narrated from him, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat" (7/545).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Bukhari, in his "Tarikh" (8/120), reported from Muhammad bin al-Walid al-Zubaydi that he (Nimran) explicitly stated his hearing from his Companion, whose name is said to be "Shurahbil bin Aws", and also said to be "Aws bin Shurahbil". Hariz is Ibn Uthman al-Hajabi.
وأخرجه أحمد 29/ (18053) عن علي بن عياش وعصام بن خالد، عن حريز بن عثمان، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (29/18053) narrated it from Ali bin Ayyash and Isam bin Khalid, from Hariz bin Uthman, with this same chain.
