It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sharid bin Suwayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you drinks wine, flog him; then if he does it again, flog him; then if he does it a third time, flog him; and if he does it a fourth time, kill him."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is weak. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Maslamah, who is Ibn al-Walid Abu Ja'far al-Wasiti al-Tayalisi, is alone in mentioning "al-Zuhri" between Muhammad bin Ishaq and Amr bin al-Sharid. Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi said about this Muhammad in "Tarikh Baghdad" (4/490): "His hadith contains munkar reports even with clear chains, although al-Hakim mentioned that he heard al-Daraqutni say: 'There is no harm in him'." Then al-Khatib said: "I saw Hibatullah bin al-Hasan al-Tabari (who is Abu al-Qasim al-Lalaka'i) declaring him weak, and I heard al-Hasan bin Muhammad al-Khallal say that he is very weak." Technical note / Defect ('illah): Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said in "Muwafaqat al-Khubr al-Khabar" (2/258): "This is a mistake by the narrator from Yazid bin Harun, who is Muhammad bin Maslamah al-Wasiti, and he is very weak." Important point: We say: What is preserved (mahfuz) is that between the two of them (Ibn Ishaq and Amr) is "Abdullah bin Utbah bin Urwah bin Mas'ud al-Thaqafi" (as in al-Nasa'i) or "Abdullah bin Abi Asim bin Urwah bin Mas'ud al-Thaqafi" (as in Ahmad). Al-Mizzi cited this hadith of his in "Tuhfat al-Ashraf" (4845), but did not give him a biography in "al-Tahdhib"; he only mentioned him among those who narrate from Amr bin al-Sharid, without giving him al-Nasa'i's symbol. Nor did al-Hafiz (Ibn Hajar) add him in "al-Tahdhib", "al-Taqrib" or "al-Ta'jil", even though Imam Ahmad narrated this hadith of his. We have not found a biography of him in the books of biographies, and in "al-Nukat al-Ziraf" his name appears as "Abdullah bin Atiyyah bin Amr al-Thaqafi", and we have not found a biography of him either. Note / Clarification: In this same generation there is a narrator "Abd al-Malik bin Abi Asim bin Urwah al-Thaqafi", a Hijazi who narrates from Sa'id bin al-Musayyab and from whom Sa'id bin al-Sa'ib narrates. Al-Bukhari and Ibn Abi Hatim gave entries for him but mentioned neither praise nor criticism. Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat" (7/104). So either he is the brother of (the above-mentioned) Abdullah, or there is a mistake in naming him Abdullah; and Allah the Exalted knows best. Reference / Source: Ahmad (32/19460) narrated it through the route of Ibrahim bin Sa'd, and al-Nasa'i (5282) through the route of Yazid bin Zuray', both of them from Muhammad bin Ishaq, (who said:) Abdullah bin Utbah bin Urwah bin Mas'ud al-Thaqafi narrated to us from Amr bin al-Sharid, and he mentioned it.
