حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب الحافظ، حدثنا إبراهيم بن عبد الله، حدثنا وهب بن جَرِير، حدثنا أبي قال: سمعت يعلى بن حَكيم يُحدِّث عن عِكْرمة، عن ابن عباس: أنَّ النبي ﷺ قال لماعِزِ بن مالك: "وَيْحَكَ، لعَلَّكَ قبلت أو لَمَستَ أو غَمَزْتَ أو نَظَرتَ! " قال: لا، قال: "أفعَلْتَها؟ قال: نعم، فعند ذلك أمرَ برَجْمِه" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يخرجاه. وقد رواه الحكم بن أبان عن عكرمة بزياداتِ ألفاظٍ:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Ma'iz bin Malik: "Woe to you! Perhaps you only kissed, or touched, or winked, or merely looked?" He said: No. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Did you really do that (act)?" He said: Yes. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned (rajm).
This hadith is sahih on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(1) إسناده صحيح. إبراهيم بن عبد الله: هو السعدي، وجرير والد وهب: هو ابن حازم الأزدي.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibrahim bin Abdullah is "Ibrahim al-Sa'di", and Jarir (the father of Wahb) is "Jarir bin Hazim al-Azdi".
وأخرجه البخاري (6824)، وأبو داود (4427)، والنسائي (7131) من طرق عن وهب بن جرير، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (6824), Abu Dawud (4427) and al-Nasa'i (7131) narrated it through various routes from Wahb bin Jarir, with this same chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 4/ (2129) عن يزيد بن هارون، و (2433) عن إسحاق بن عيسى، كلاهما عن جرير بن حازم، به.
Reference / Source: It is narrated in Musnad Ahmad (4/2129) from Yazid bin Harun, and (no. 2433) from Ishaq bin Isa; both of them narrate it from Jarir bin Hazim with this same chain.
وخالف الثلاثة جميعًا موسى بنُ إسماعيل عند أبي داود (4427)، فرواه عن جرير، عن يعلى، عن عكرمة مرسلًا. ورواية الجماعة أولى.
Details of the narration / Contradiction: Contrary to these three narrators, "Musa bin Isma'il" differed: in Abu Dawud (4427) he narrated it from Jarir, from Ya'la, from Ikrimah, as "mursal". Preference: The narration of the group (the greater number of narrators) is more worthy (of acceptance).
وأخرجه أحمد 4 / (2310) و (2617) و 5 (2998)، والنسائي (7130) من طريق عبد الله بن المبارك، عن معمر، عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عباس.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (4/2310, 2617 and 5/2998) and al-Nasa'i (7130) narrated it through the route of Abdullah bin al-Mubarak, from Ma'mar, from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).
وخالف عبدُ الرزاق في "مصنفه" (13338) ابنَ المبارك، فرواه عن معمر، عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، عن عكرمة مرسلًا.
Details of the narration / Contradiction: In the Musannaf of Abd al-Razzaq (13338), Abd al-Razzaq contradicted Ibn al-Mubarak; he narrated it from Ma'mar, from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, from Ikrimah, as "mursal".
وأخرجه أبو داود (4421) عن أبي كامل فضيل بن حسين، عن يزيد بن زريع، عن خالد الحذاء، عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس.
Reference / Source: Abu Dawud (4421) narrated it via Abu Kamil Fudayl bin Husayn, from Yazid bin Zuray', from Khalid al-Hadhdha', from Ikrimah, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).
وخالف عبدُ الوهاب بن عبد المجيد الثقفي يزيدَ بن زريع عند النسائي (7132)، فرواه عن خالد الحذاء، عن عكرمة مرسلًا. قال ابن أبي حاتم في "علل الحديث" (1337): سألت أبي وأبا زرعة عن حديث رواه أبو كامل عن يزيد بن زريع .. في قصة ماعز، فقالا: هذا خطأ، إنما هو خالد الحذاء عن عكرمة أنَّ النبي ﷺ مرسلًا، قلت لأبي زرعة: الخطأ من أبي كامل؟ فقال: الله أعلم، يزيد بن زريع ثبت، وقال أبي: أخطأ فيه أبو كامل
Details of the narration / Contradiction: In al-Nasa'i (7132), Abd al-Wahhab bin Abd al-Majid al-Thaqafi contradicted Yazid bin Zuray' and narrated it from Khalid al-Hadhdha', from Ikrimah, as "mursal". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Ibn Abi Hatim says in "'Ilal al-Hadith" (1337): I asked my father (Abu Hatim) and Abu Zur'ah about a hadith which Abu Kamil narrated from Yazid bin Zuray' concerning the story of Ma'iz, and they both said: "This (narrating it as connected) is a mistake; what is correct is that Khalid al-Hadhdha' narrated it from Ikrimah, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as mursal." I asked Abu Zur'ah: Is the mistake from Abu Kamil? He said: Allah knows best, (for) Yazid bin Zuray' is thabt (highly reliable). And my father (Abu Hatim) said: "Abu Kamil made a mistake in it."
وأخرجه بنحوه أحمد 4 / (2202) و 5 / (2874) و (3028)، ومسلم (1693)، وأبو داود (4425) و (4426)، والترمذي (1427)، والنسائي (7133) و (7134) و (7135) من طريق سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عباس.
Reference / Source: A similar narration was transmitted by Imam Ahmad (4/2202, 5/2874, 3028), Muslim (1693), Abu Dawud (4425, 4426), al-Tirmidhi (1427) and al-Nasa'i (7133, 7134, 7135) through the route of Sa'id bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him).
