Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Correction: In the manuscripts this name is corrupted into "Khalifah", whereas in "Ithaf al-Maharah" (21951) it comes correctly.
Identification of the narrator: "Abu Hudhayfah" is "Musa bin Mas'ud al-Nahdi".
Grading: A sahih hadith.
Technical note: There is no harm in the narrators of this chain, but there is disagreement among those narrating from Ibrahim bin Tahman: sometimes this narration is reported from him as "Abd al-Aziz bin Rufay', from Ubayd bin Umayr, from Aishah", and sometimes as "Mansur bin al-Mu'tamir, from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, from Abu Ma'mar, from Masruq, from Aishah", which is reported once as "marfu'" and once as "mawquf". The author (al-Hakim) has cited all these routes one after another, and their sources will come in their places. However it turns, it revolves around a thiqah (trustworthy) narrator, especially since Ibrahim bin Tahman is corroborated in it. This hadith passed shortly before via another route from Aishah as marfu' (no. 8237), and there, in its sources, we mentioned a third "sahih" route for it.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Awsat" (3760) from Ali bin Abd al-Aziz, from Abu Hudhayfah, with this same chain.
Variation in the text: In his version, in place of the words "the one who separates from the community", the words are: "and a man who goes out waging war against Allah and His Messenger; he is to be killed, or crucified, or banished from the land."
Analysis: We say: These are the "mahfuz" (preserved) words in the narration of Ibn Tahman, even though this narration is shadh and contrary to what people in general narrated from Aishah; this will be explained at number (8294).
