إِذَا اسْتَهَلَّ الصَّبِيُّ وَرِثَ وَصُلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ

حدَّثَناه أبو علي الحافظ، أخبرنا أبو عبد الرحمن أحمد بن شعيب النَّسائي بمصر وعبد الله بن زَيْدان البَجَلي بالكوفة، قالا: حدثنا عبد الله بن سعيد الكِنْدي، حدثنا إسحاق بن يوسف الأزرق، حدثنا سفيان، عن أبي الزُّبير، عن جابر، أنَّ النبيَّ ﷺ قال: "إذا استَهلَّ الصبيُّ وُرِّثَ وصُلِّيَ عليه" (3). هذا إسناد صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه. ولم أجده من حديث الثَّوْري عن أبي الزُّبير موقوفًا فكنت أحكُمُ به. آخر كتاب الفرائض [كتاب الحدود] ﷽

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a child cries (at birth), he will inherit and his funeral prayer will be offered."
This chain is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. I did not find this hadith from Sufyan al-Thawri through Abu al-Zubayr as mawquf (stopping at the Companion); otherwise I would have ruled in accordance with it.
