أخبرني أبو بكر بن أبي نصر المُزكَّي بمَرُو، حدثنا عبد الله بن رَوْح المدائني، حدثنا شَبَابة بن سوَّار، حدثنا المغيرة بن مسلم، عن أبي الزُّبير، عن جابر أنَّ النبيَّ ﷺ قال: "إذا استَهلَّ الصبيُّ وُرِّثَ وصُلِّيَ عليه" (1). لا أعلم أحدًا رَفَعَه عن أبي الزُّبير غير المغيرة! وقد أوقَفَه ابن جُريج وغيرُه (2)، وقد كَتَبناه من حديث سفيان الثَّوري عن أبي الزُّبير مرفوعًا:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a child makes a sound (at birth), inheritance will apply to him and his funeral prayer will also be offered." I do not know of anyone other than al-Mughirah who narrated it from Abu al-Zubayr as marfu' (attributed to the Prophet), whereas Ibn Jurayj and others narrated it as mawquf (stopping at the Companion).

(1) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد قوي من أجل المغيرة بن مسلم - وهو القسملي - وقد توبع في الرواية التالية.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, and its chain is "strong" (qawi) on account of al-Mughirah bin Muslim (al-Qasmali); he has been corroborated (mutaba'ah) in the following narration.
وأخرجه النسائي (6324) عن يحيى بن موسى البلخي، عن شبابة بن سوار، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i (6324) narrated it from Yahya bin Musa al-Balkhi, from Shababah bin Sawwar, with this same chain.
وقال بعدما أخرج حديث ابن جريج عن أبي الزبير سمع جابرًا، فذكره موقوفًا (6325): وهذا أَولى بالصواب من حديث المغيرة بن مسلم، وعند المغيرة بن مسلم عن أبي الزبير غير حديث منكر، وابن جريج أثبت من المغيرة، والله أعلم. كذا قال، ظنًا منه هنا أنَّ المغيرة قد تفرّد برفعه، مع أنه في الرواية التالية عند المصنف قد رواه هو نفسه من طريق سفيان الثوري عن أبي الزبير مرفوعًا، فبان أنَّ المغيرة لم يتفرَّد برفعه، فلعلَّ هذه الطريق وقعت للنسائي فيما بعدُ.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): After recording the mawquf hadith of Ibn Jurayj from Abu al-Zubayr (in which he heard it from Jabir) (6325), al-Nasa'i said: "This is closer to being correct than the hadith of al-Mughirah bin Muslim; al-Mughirah bin Muslim has more than one munkar hadith from Abu al-Zubayr, and Ibn Jurayj is more reliable than al-Mughirah, and Allah knows best." Al-Nasa'i said this on the assumption that al-Mughirah was alone in narrating it as marfu'. Yet in the following narration with the author (al-Hakim), al-Mughirah himself narrated it via Sufyan al-Thawri from Abu al-Zubayr as "marfu'". So it became clear that al-Mughirah was not alone in narrating it as marfu'; perhaps this route reached al-Nasa'i only later.
