حدثنا محمد بن صالح بن هانئ حدثنا يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى، حدثنا حفص بن عمر الحَوْضي، حدثنا سلَّام بن أبي مُطِيع، حدثنا معاوية بن قُرَّة، عن مَعقِل بن يَسار قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "يقول ربُّكم ﵎: يا ابنَ آدم، تَفرَّغْ لعبادتي أَملأْ قلبك غِنًى، وأَملأ يديك رزقًا، يا ابنَ آدم، لا تَباعَدْ مِنِّي فأَملأَ قلبَك فقرًا، وأَملأَ يديك شُغلًا" (3).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, says: 'O son of Adam! Devote yourself wholly to My worship, and I will fill your heart with contentment (self-sufficiency) and fill your hands with provision. O son of Adam! Do not distance yourself from Me, or else I will fill your heart with poverty (neediness) and entangle your hands in worldly preoccupations.'"
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(3) إسناده ضعيف جدًا من أجل سلام - وهو ابن سليم الطويل - فهو متروك الحديث، وما وقع هنا في رواية الحاكم من نسبته ابن أبي مطيع وهمٌ من الحاكم أو ممَّن فوقه، فالحديث معروف بسلّام الطويل. فقد أخرجه من حديث حفص بن عمر الحوضي نفسه الطبراني في "الكبير" 20/ (500) ـ وعنه أبو نعيم في "الحلية" 2/ 303 - عن عثمان بن عمر الضبي عنه، عن سلام الطويل، عن زيد العمّي، عن معاوية بن قرّة به. وبهذا يتبين أنَّ إسناد الحاكم قد سقط منه زيد العمي، وزيد هذا ضعيف الحديث.
Grading: Its chain is very weak because of Sallam (Ibn Sulaym al-Tawil), for he is matruk al-hadith (abandoned).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The attribution "Ibn Abi Muti'" that occurs here in al-Hakim's narration is an error (wahm) by al-Hakim or by someone above him, because this hadith is known through Sallam al-Tawil. Al-Tabarani recorded it from the hadith of Hafs bin 'Umar al-Hawdi himself in "al-Kabir" (20/500), and from him Abu Nu'aym in "al-Hilyah" (2/303), through 'Uthman bin 'Umar al-Dabbi, from Hafs, from Sallam al-Tawil, from Zayd al-'Ammi, from Mu'awiyah bin Qurrah. This shows that Zayd al-'Ammi has also dropped out of al-Hakim's chain, and this Zayd is weak in hadith.
وأورده ابن عدي أيضًا في ترجمة سلام الطويل من "الكامل" 3/ 300 - 301، فرواه - وكذا

الطبراني 20/ (500) من طريق أبي الربيع الزهراني، عن سلام الطويل، عن زيد العمّي، به.

واغترَّ الشيخ ناصر الدين الألباني ﵀ بظاهر إسناد الحاكم فأودعه في "الصحيحة" 3/ 347، ونقل تصحيح الحاكم وموافقة الذهبي له، وقال: هو كما قالا. ثم أورد طريق سلام الطويل متابعةً لسلام بن أبي مطيع!
Note / Clarification: Shaykh Nasir al-Din al-Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) was misled by the outward appearance of al-Hakim's chain, so he included it in "al-Sahihah" (3/347), quoted al-Hakim's grading of it as sahih and al-Dhahabi's agreement, and said: "It is as they both said." Then he cited the route of Sallam al-Tawil as a corroboration (mutaba'ah) for Sallam bin Abi Muti'!

Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is also a report from Abu Hurayrah, which has passed at no. (3698).
