حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن عبيد الله المُنادي حدثنا يونس بن محمد المُؤدِّب، حدثنا سلَّام بن أبي مُطِيع، عن قَتَادةَ، عن الحسن، عن سَمُرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "الحَسَبُ المالُ، والكَرَمُ التقوى" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hasab (standing and prestige) is wealth, and karam (nobility and honour) is taqwa (God-consciousness)."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
