حدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن جعفر الأَدَمي القارئ ببغداد، حدثنا أبو جعفر أحمد بن عُبيد بن ناصح، حدثنا خالد بن عمرو القُرشي، حدثنا سفيان الثَّوري، عن أبي حازم، عن سَهْل بن سعد: أن النبيَّ ﷺ وَعَظَ رجلًا فقال: "ارْهَدْ في الدنيا يُحبّك الله ﷿، وازهَدْ فيما في أيدي الناسِ يُحبَّك الناسُ" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), advising a man, said: "Be detached from the world and Allah will love you; and be free of need for what people possess, and people will love you."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده تالف، خالد بن عمرو القرشي متهم بالكذب وبه أعلَّه الذهبي في "التلخيص" فقال: خالد وضَّاع. قلنا: وأحمد بن عبيد بن ناصح ليِّن الحديث، لكنه توبع.
Grading: Its chain is ruined (talif).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Khalid bin 'Amr al-Qurashi is accused of lying (muttaham bil-kadhib); for this reason al-Dhahabi declared it defective in "al-Talkhis" and said: "Khalid is a fabricator (wadda')." We say: (the other narrator in the chain) Ahmad bin 'Ubayd bin Nasih is soft (layyin) in hadith, but he has been corroborated.
وأخرجه ابن ماجه (4102) من طريق شهاب بن عباد عن خالد بن عمرو القرشي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (4102) recorded it via Shihab bin 'Abbad, from Khalid bin 'Amr al-Qurashi, with this same chain.
