Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, and this chain is strong (qawi). Note / Clarification: Abu Sufyan in the chain is Talhah bin Nafi', and Abu Mu'awiyah is Muhammad bin Khazim al-Darir. Reference / Source: Al-Baghawi (4206) recorded it via Abu Sa'id al-Sayrafi, from Abu al-'Abbas Muhammad bin Ya'qub al-Asamm, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Abu Ya'la (2269) recorded it from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numayr, and Ibn Nuqtah in "al-Taqyid" (p. 196) via Ishaq bin Rahawayh, both of them from Abu Mu'awiyah, in the same way. Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the narration of Ibn Rahawayh, Abu Mu'awiyah explicitly states that he heard it (sama') from al-A'mash. (1274). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam Ahmad differed from all of them: he recorded it in his "Musnad" (22/ 14373) from Abu Mu'awiyah, who said: "Some of our companions narrated to us from al-A'mash" (i.e. the intermediary was left unnamed). This hadith has already passed at number (1274).
