حدثنا أحمد بن كامل القاضي، حدثنا جعفر بن أبي عثمان الطَّيَالسي، حدثنا يحيى بن أيوب، حدثنا عبد الجبار بن وهب، أخبرنا سعد بن طارق، عن أبيه قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "نِعَمتِ الدارُ الدنيا لمن تَزوَّد منها لآخرتِه حتى يُرضِيَ ربَّه ﷿، وبئسَتِ الدارُ لمن صَدَّتْه عن آخرتِه، وقَصَّرَت به عن رِضا ربِّه، وإذا قال العبدُ: قبَّح اللهُ الدنيا، قالتِ الدنيا: قَبَّحَ اللهُ أعصانا لربِّه" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

Sa'd bin Tariq narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What an excellent abode the world is for the one who takes provision from it for his Hereafter until he pleases his Lord, the Mighty and Majestic; and what an evil abode it is for the one whom it turns away from his Hereafter and causes to fall short of attaining the pleasure of his Lord. When a servant says, 'May Allah make the world ugly (or disfigure it),' the world replies: 'May Allah make ugly whichever of us is more disobedient to his Lord.'"
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده ضعيف عبد الجبار بن وهب قال العقيلي: مجهول، وحديثه غير محفوظ، وقال ابن معين: لا أعرفه وبه أعلَّه الذهبي في التلخيص"، فقال: منكر، وعبد الجبار لا يعرف. يحيى بن أيوب: هو المقابري.
Grading: Its chain is da'if.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): About 'Abd al-Jabbar bin Wahb al-'Uqayli says: He is majhul (unknown) and his hadith is not preserved (ghayr mahfuz). Ibn Ma'in said: I do not know him. Al-Dhahabi declared it defective in "al-Talkhis" for this reason and said: It is munkar, and 'Abd al-Jabbar is not known.
Note / Clarification: Yahya bin Ayyub (in the chain) refers to "al-Maqabiri".
وأخرجه ابن لال في "مكارم الأخلاق" كما في "الغرائب الملتقطة" لابن حجر (2657) عن أحمد بن كامل بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ibn Lal recorded it in "Makarim al-Akhlaq" (as found in Ibn Hajar's "al-Ghara'ib al-Multaqatah" (2657)) from Ahmad bin Kamil, with this same chain.
وأخرجه العقيلي في "الضعفاء" (1032)، والرامهرمزي في "الأمثال" (24) و (109) عن أحمد بن يحيى الحلواني، عن يحيى بن أيوب، به.

وأخرجه ابن عدي في "الكامل" 3/ 248 - 249 من طريق الحسن بن الحسين الرازي، عن يحيى بن أيوب، عن أبي داود سليمان بن عمرو النخعي عن سعد بن طارق، به. فجعل مكان عبد الجبار بن وهب أبا داود النخعي، وأبو داود هذا متهم بالكذب.
