أخبرنا حمزة بن العباس العَقَبي، حدثنا أبو قِلابةَ، حدثنا إسحاق بن ناصح، حدثنا قيس (1)، عن منصور عن رِبْعيِّ بن حراش، عن طارق بن عبد الله المُحاربي قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "يا طارقُ، استعدَّ للموت قبلَ نزولِ الموت" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tariq bin Abdullah al-Muharibi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Tariq! Prepare for death before death descends."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(1) وقع في النسخ الخطية: شيبان، وهو خطأ يقينًا، فإنَّ البيهقي قد خرج هذا الحديث في كتابه "شعب الإيمان" عن الحاكم بإسناده ومتنه فسمّاه قيسًا، وكذلك رواه غير واحد عن أبي قلابة عبد الملك بن محمد الرَّقاشي على الصواب، ولا يعرف هذا الحديث إلَّا من رواية إسحاق بن ناصح عن قيس، وهو ابن الربيع الأسدي.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts the name here is written "Shayban", which is certainly an error, because al-Bayhaqi, in his book "Shu'ab al-Iman", narrated this same hadith from al-Hakim with this chain and text and named him "Qays". Likewise several narrators narrated it from Abu Qilabah 'Abd al-Malik bin Muhammad al-Raqashi with the correct name. This hadith is known only from the narration of Ishaq bin Nasih, who narrates from Qays (bin al-Rabi' al-Asadi).
(2) إسناده تالف إسحاق بن ناصح، قال ابن معين: ليس بشيء، وقال أبو حاتم: كذب على قيس بن الربيع. وقال العقيلي في "الضعفاء": ليس هذا الحديث محفوظًا من حديث قيس ولا غيره، ولا يتابع هذا الشيخ عليه أحدٌ. منصور: هو ابن المعتمر.
Grading: Its chain is ruined (talif), because it contains Ishaq bin Nasih. Ibn Ma'in said: He is nothing (unreliable). Abu Hatim said: He lied against Qays bin al-Rabi'. Al-'Uqayli said in "al-Du'afa'": This hadith is not preserved (mahfuz) from Qays or anyone else, and no one corroborates this shaykh in it.
Note / Clarification: Mansur (in the chain) refers to "Ibn al-Mu'tamir".
وأخرجه البيهقي في "شعب الإيمان" (10067) عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد.

وأخرجه ابن أبي عاصم في "الآحاد والمثاني" (1323)، والعقيلي في "الضعفاء" (138)، والطبراني في "الكبير" (8174) من طريق عبدة بن عبد الله الصفار عن إسحاق بن ناصح، به.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi 'Asim recorded it in "al-Ahad wal-Mathani" (1323), al-'Uqayli in "al-Du'afa'" (138) and al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (8174), through 'Abdah bin 'Abd Allah al-Saffar, from Ishaq bin Nasih, in the same way.
