Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 801

Ali bin Yahya bin Khallad narrates from his father (Yahya bin Khallad, the nephew of Sayyiduna Rifa'ah bin Rafi', may Allah be pleased with him) that a man entered the mosque when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had already prayed, and he prayed (and then the incident took place).
Imam al-Hakim says that this confirms what Imam Bukhari mentioned, and that Dawud bin Qays, Muhammad bin Ishaq and Isma'il bin Ja'far also narrated its chain in its proper form.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Hammad (bin Salamah) erred in this chain, as al-Bukhari and Abu Zur'ah al-Razi stated, as in Ibn Abi Hatim's 'al-Ilal' (222).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the narration of Abu Dawud (857), from Musa bin Isma'il from Hammad from Ishaq bin Abi Talhah from Ali bin Yahya bin Khallad from his paternal uncle, Hammad did not mention the words "from his father" (i.e. he narrated it directly from his uncle); this is one of the forms of Hammad bin Salamah's "idtirab" (inconsistency) in this narration.
