Sayyidah Subay'ah al-Aslamiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said to the women of Hims, who used the bathhouses: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The bathhouse is forbidden for the women of my Ummah." One of those women asked: I comb my daughters' hair with this drink (wine)? Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked: Which drink? She said: Wine. So she said: Would you be pleased to comb (their hair) with the blood of a pig? She said: No. She said: Then this (wine) is like it (impure).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This chain is hasan on account of the presence of Yahya bin Abi Usayd and Ubayd bin Abi Suwayyah. Technical note / Defect ('illah): A group of narrators narrated from each of these two, and Ibn Hibban included them in his book "al-Thiqat", although he named the second narrator Humayd bin Suwayd. Reference / Source: Imam al-Nasa'i narrated it in "al-Kuna" by the route of Yahya bin Ayyub al-Khawlani, via Sa'id bin Abi Maryam, with this same chain (as quoted in Mughaltay's "Ikmal Tahdhib al-Kamal" 9/ 92). Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (25006, 25085, 25457), Abu Dawud (4009), Ibn Majah (3749) and al-Tirmidhi (2802) narrated it by the route of Hammad bin Salamah, via Abdullah bin Shaddad al-A'raj, from Abu Udhrah, from A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the bathhouses, then permitted men with waist-wrappers but not women. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Tirmidhi says that this is only known as the narration of Hammad bin Salamah, and its chain is not very sound. Important point: Concerning the narrator Abu Udhrah, al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar says that counting him among the Companions is an error; according to al-Bukhari and al-Hakim he lived in that era but was not a Companion, and in "al-Taqrib" he is declared majhul. Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (8/ 195) narrated it by the route of Abu al-Safar, from his wife, that A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked about combing hair with a honey mixture containing wine, and she forbade it most strongly. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its chain is weak. Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (8/ 195) narrated by the route of Nafi' from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that it reached him that some women comb their hair with wine, and he said (as an imprecation): May Allah afflict their heads with hair loss ("al-hassah"). Grading: Its chain is sahih.
