أخبرنا أبو جعفر محمد بن محمد بن عبد الله البغدادي، حدثنا يحيى بن عثمان بن صالح السَّهْمي، حدثنا عمرو بن الرَّبيع بن طارق، حدثنا يحيى بن أيوب، حدثني أبو يوسف يعقوب بن إبراهيم، عن محمد بن ثابت بن شُرَحْبيل القُرشي، فذكر الحديث (3).
This is a corroboration, through another chain, of the preceding hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), among whose narrators is Imam Abu Yusuf (al-Qadi).

Grading: Like the previous narration, this one is also hasan li-ghayrihi.
وأخرجه ابن حبان (5597)، والبيهقي في "السنن" 7/ 309، وفي "شعب الإيمان" (7379) من طريق يحيى بن معين، والبيهقي في "الشعب" (7379) من طريق يعقوب بن سفيان الفسوي، كلاهما عن عمرو بن الربيع بن طارق، بهذا الإسناد. وجاء اسم والد عبد الله عندهم: سويد. قال البيهقي في "الشعب" عقبه وعبد الله هذا إن كان الخطمي فاسم أبيه يزيد، ولكن كان في كتابي: ابن سويد عنهما جميعًا. قلنا: لكنه وقع في "سننه": ابن يزيد، على الجادّة.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (5597) and al-Bayhaqi (al-Sunan 7/ 309 and Shu'ab al-Iman 7379) narrated it by the routes of Yahya bin Ma'in and Ya'qub bin Sufyan al-Fasawi, via Amr bin al-Rabi' bin Tariq, with this same chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In their narrations the name of Abdullah's father is given as "Suwayd". Imam al-Bayhaqi says that if this is al-Khatmi then his father's name should be Yazid, but in my copy it was "Ibn Suwayd" from both of them. However, in al-Bayhaqi's Sunan this name is recorded as "Ibn Yazid", in the familiar way.
