It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade khadhf (flicking pebbles with the fingers). A man flicked a pebble in his presence, so he said: I am narrating to you the hadith of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and you are flicking pebbles? By Allah! I will never speak to you.
The two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it with this wording; it has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration.
