Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7736

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a lean, poor jadh'ah of sheep and a fat jadh'ah of goats, and said: O Messenger of Allah! Of the two, this one (the goat) is better; shall I sacrifice it? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sacrifice it, for with Allah, goats (are also accepted)."
This hadith has an authentic chain (sahih al-isnad), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): The manuscripts have "Jammah", while the name has been corrected in light of "al-Talkhis", "Ithaf al-Maharah" (18011) and "Musnad Abi Ya'la".

Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is how it is in the manuscripts, but this word does not appear in "al-Talkhis", while "Musnad Abi Ya'la" has the word "sayyid" in its place, and that appears to be correct.

Grading: Its chain is da'if (weak).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Qaz'ah bin Suwayd is weak; only three people narrated from Salamah bin Junadah, and no one other than Ibn Hibban declared him trustworthy. The name "Hanash bin al-Harith" appears this way in al-Hakim's narration, but no one else gave his father's name as al-Harith; al-Bukhari, Ibn Abi Hatim, Ibn Hibban and al-Daraqutni all wrote him as "Hanash al-'Abdi". Salamah bin Junadah is the only one who narrates from Hanash, and no reliable imam declared him trustworthy, so he is counted among the majhul (unknown) narrators.
Reference / Source: Abu Ya'la narrated it (6223) via Bishr bin al-Walid from Qaz'ah bin Suwayd, with this same chain, and at its end are the words: "fa-inna Allah al-khayr".
