It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has a daughter born to him and does not bury her alive (as was done in the days of ignorance), nor humiliate her, nor prefer his son over her, Allah Almighty will admit him into Paradise because of her."
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (its chain is authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Grading: (2) Its chain is da'if (weak). Technical note / Defect ('illah): "Ibn Hudayr" has an entry in "al-Tahdhib" and its derivative works, in the chapter on those named after their fathers, and no name is given for him there. Al-Hakim named him "Ziyad" in this narration, but no one narrated from the unnamed "Ibn Hudayr" except Abu Malik al-Ashja'i (Sa'd bin Tariq), and no one is reported to have declared him trustworthy. That is why al-Mundhiri said in "al-Targhib": "He is not well known", al-Dhahabi said in "al-Mizan": "He is not known", and Ibn Hajar said in "al-Taqrib": "Mastur (of unknown condition)". They distinguished between him and "Ziyad" and treated them as two separate persons, and that is correct, if Allah wills. Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Shaybah (8/ 551), Ahmad (3/ 1957) and Abu Dawud (5146) recorded it via Abu Mu'awiyah Muhammad bin Khazim, from Abu Malik al-Ashja'i, with this chain.
