It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) met a man of the Arabs called Ufayr. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him: "What did you hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say about affection?" He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Indeed, affection and enmity are both inherited.'"

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
(13848). Note / Clarification: (1) In the manuscripts this name has been distorted into the diminutive form "'Ubayd Allah", while the correct name appears in "Ithaf al-Maharah" (13848).
Grading: (2) Its chain is very da'if (weak). Technical note / Defect ('illah): In it Yusuf bin 'Atiyyah (who is Ibn Bab al-Saffar) is matruk (abandoned) in hadith, and Abu Bakr al-Mulayki (who is Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr bin 'Ubayd Allah) was declared very weak by Imam al-Dhahabi, as has passed. Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (508) via 'Ali bin Sa'id al-Masruqi, from Yusuf bin 'Atiyyah al-Warraq, with this chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): There the name "Muhammad bin Talhah" has dropped out of the chain, so it should be restored.
