أخبرنا أبو القاسم الحسن بن محمد بن الحسن (3) بن عُقْبة بن خالد السَّكُوني بالكوفة، حدّثنا عبد الله (1) بن غنّام بن حفص بن غِيَاث، حدّثنا أبي، عن أبيه، عن مِسعَر، عن أبي عُتْبة، عن عائشة قالت: قلت: يا رسولَ الله، مَن أعظمُ الناس حقًّا على المرأة؟ قال: "زوجُها" قلت: مَن أعظم الناس حقًّا على الرجل؟ قال: "أُمُّه" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, who has the greatest right over a woman?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Her husband." I said: "Who has the greatest right over a man?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "His mother."
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (its chain is authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(3) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية الحسن إلى: أحمد.
Note / Clarification: (3) In the manuscripts the name "al-Hasan" has been distorted into "Ahmad".
(1) جاء في النسخ الخطية "عبد" من غير إضافة، وقد سلف الحديث برقم (7431)، وفيه هناك: عبد الله، على الصواب، وقد ترجم له الحاكم في "سؤالات الدارقطني" (123) وقال عنه: صدوق، لكن تحرَّف فيه هناك غنّام إلى عباس.
Note / Clarification: (1) In the manuscripts only "'Abd" appears, without the second part of the name, whereas this hadith passed earlier at number (7431) and there it is correctly "Abd Allah". Al-Hakim gave his biography in "Su'alat al-Daraqutni" (123) and called him "saduq" (truthful), but there (his father's name) Ghannam has been distorted into "'Abbas".
(2) إسناده ضعيف لجهالة أبي عتبة، وقد سلف برقم (7431) من طريق أبي أحمد الزبيري عن مسعر بن كدام، وذكرنا هناك تخريجه. وطريق المصنّف التي هنا: حفص بن غياث عن مسعر، لم نقف عليها عند غير المصنّف.
Grading: (2) This chain is da'if (weak) because Abu 'Utbah is unknown; it passed at number (7431) via Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri, from Mis'ar bin Kidam, and we mentioned its takhrij there.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): We did not find the author's route here (namely Hafs bin Ghiyath from Mis'ar) with anyone other than the author.
