It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, when Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, finished creating the creation, the womb (kinship) stood up and took hold of the haqw (waist) of the Most Merciful. Allah said: 'Stop.' It said: 'This is the station of one who seeks refuge with You from being severed.' Allah said: 'Are you not pleased that I join (with My mercy) whoever joins you, and cut off whoever cuts you off?'" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite, if you wish, from: 'Would you then, if you turned away, cause corruption on the earth and sever your ties of kinship?' up to: 'Do they not then reflect upon the Qur'an?' [Surah Muhammad: 22-24]."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): It is like this in our manuscripts, whereas the correct position is that the name of this "Abu Bakr" is "'Abd al-Kabir"; as for "'Ubaydullah", he is his brother, whose kunyah is "Abu 'Ali". See the comment on this under the earlier hadith number (1801). Note / Clarification: In manuscript (Z) alone it appears as "Abu Bakr bin 'Ubaydullah", with the word "bin" added, and this is an error.
Note / Clarification: This (part/wording) is missing from the manuscripts.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam Ahmad (14/ 8367) from Abu Bakr 'Abd al-Kabir bin 'Abd al-Majid al-Hanafi, with this same chain. Important point: This narration has already appeared with the author (al-Hakim) at number (3042) via the route of Sa'id bin Yasar, and at number (7452) via the route of Abu Salamah, and both of them narrate it from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him).
