It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-rahim (the tie of kinship) is a branch from al-Rahman. So whoever joins it, Allah will join him, and whoever severs it, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will cut him off (from His mercy)."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name has been corrupted into "'Abd".
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts this name has been corrupted into "al-Ji'abi", and what we have written (in the text) is correct. See his biography in al-Dhahabi's "Tarikh al-Islam" (6/ 988). The attribution is to "Jakkan" (with fathah on the jim and shaddah on the kaf), a quarter at the gate of the city of Herat.
Note / Clarification: The text between the square brackets was not in the manuscripts.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Note / Clarification: "Abu al-Yaman" in the chain is "al-Hakam bin Nafi' al-Himsi", and "'Abdullah bin Abi al-Husayn" is "'Abdullah bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin Abi al-Husayn al-Nawfali". Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (1/ 1651) recorded it from Abu al-Yaman, with this chain, and it contains an addition. Note / Clarification: "Al-shijnah" (read with either kasrah or dammah on the shin): it means a branch sprouting from a bough (the meaning here is that the womb/kinship is a branch from al-Rahman, connected to Him).
