أخبرني الحسن بن حَليم (4) المروَزي، أخبرنا أبو الموجِّه، أخبرنا عَبْدانُ، أخبرنا عبد الله، أخبرني ابن أبي ذئب، حدثني خالي الحارث بن عبد الرحمن، عن حمزة بن عبد الله بن عمر، عن أبيه قال: كانت تحتي امرأةٌ تُعجبني، وكان عمرُ يكرهُها، فقال لي: طلِّقْها، فأَبيتُ، فأتى عمرُ رسولَ الله ﷺ، فقال: يا رسولَ الله، إنَّ عند عبد الله بن عمر امرأةً قد كرهتُها، فأمرتُه أن يُطلِّقَها فأَبى، فقال لي رسول الله ﷺ: "يا عبدَ الله بنَ عمر، طلِّقِ امرأتَك، وأطِعْ أباك"، قال عبدُ الله: فطلَّقتُها (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: I had a wife whom I liked, but Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) disliked her. He said to me: Divorce her. I refused. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) has a wife whom I dislike; I told him to divorce her, but he refused. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Abdullah bin Umar! Divorce your wife and obey your father." Abdullah said: So I divorced her.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Technical note / Defect ('illah): (4) In the manuscripts this has been corrupted into "Hakim".
(1) إسناده جيد من أجل الحارث بن عبد الرحمن أبو الموجه هو محمد بن عمرو الفزاري، وعبدان: هو عبد الله بن عثمان المروزي، وعبد الله: هو ابن المبارك، وابن أبي ذئب: هو محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن المغيرة بن الحارث العامري
Grading: (1) Its chain is jayyid (good) because of al-Harith bin 'Abd al-Rahman.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu al-Muwajjih is Muhammad bin 'Amr al-Fazari, 'Abdan is 'Abdullah bin 'Uthman al-Marwazi, 'Abdullah is Ibn al-Mubarak, and Ibn Abi Dhi'b is Muhammad bin 'Abd al-Rahman bin al-Mughirah bin al-Harith al-'Amiri.
وأخرجه الترمذي (1189) عن أحمد بن محمد، عن عبد الله بن المبارك، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Tirmidhi recorded it (1189) from Ahmad bin Muhammad, from 'Abdullah bin al-Mubarak, with this chain.
وأخرجه أحمد 8/ (4711) و 9 / (5011) و (5144) و 10 / (6470)، وأبو داود (5138)، وابن ماجه (2088)، والنسائي (5631)، وابن حبان (426) و (427) من طرق عن ابن أبي ذئب به. وقال الترمذي: حسن صحيح.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (8/ 4711, 9/ 5011, 5144 and 10/ 6470), Abu Dawud (5138), Ibn Majah (2088), al-Nasa'i (5631) and Ibn Hibban (426 and 427) recorded it through various routes from Ibn Abi Dhi'b, with this chain.
Grading: Imam al-Tirmidhi said: This hadith is "hasan sahih".
