It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man got married and his mother disliked it. He came to Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) to ask about it, and he said: Obey your mother, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The mother is the best, the middle, of the gates of Paradise." Now it is up to you whether you waste this virtue or preserve it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its narrators are trustworthy, except that Abu 'Abd al-Rahman - who is 'Abdullah bin Habib al-Sulami - did not witness the story; rather, the man who asked the question told it to him, and he is an unnamed (mubham) man whose status we do not know, as was explained under number (2835). Note / Clarification: Sufyan here is Ibn 'Uyaynah. Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad 45/ (27552), Ibn Majah (3663) and al-Tirmidhi (1900) recorded it by way of Sufyan bin 'Uyaynah, with this chain. Imam al-Tirmidhi said: It is a sahih hadith.
