Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 7417

أخبرني إسماعيل بن محمد بن الفضل بن محمد الشَّعْراني، حدثنا جدِّي، حدثنا نُعيم بن حمّاد، حدثنا عبد العزيز بن محمد الدَّراوَرْدي، عن عمرو بن أبي عمرو، عن عِكْرمة عن ابن عباس قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "اجتنِبُوا الخمرَ، فإنَّها مِفتاحُ كلَّ شَرٍّ" (2). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Avoid wine, for it is the key to every evil."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Grading: God willing, this chain is "hasan" because of Nu'aym bin Hammad.
وأخرجه البيهقي في شعب الإيمان (5199) من طريق محمد بن إسحاق الصغاني، عن نعيم بن حماد بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "Shu'ab al-Iman" (5199) by way of Muhammad bin Ishaq al-Saghani, from Nu'aym bin Hammad, with this chain.
وفي الباب عن أبي الدرداء عند ابن ماجه (3371)، وفي سنده شهر بن حوشب، وهو حسن في المتابعات والشواهد.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: On this topic there is a hadith of Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) in Ibn Majah (3371), whose chain contains Shahr bin Hawshab; it is of "hasan" level in corroborating chains and supporting reports.
