It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: When the caller of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) pronounced the iqamah for prayer, he would call out: "Do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts the word here is "idh", whereas we have recorded the correct word according to the sources of takhrij.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih". Technical note / Defect ('illah): It is authentically established that Abu Maysarah ('Amr bin Shurahbil al-Hamdani) heard from 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him); al-Bukhari affirmed it in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" 6/ 341 and Abu Hatim in "al-Jarh wa al-Ta'dil" 6/ 237, while Abu Zur'ah claimed that his narration from him is mursal (which is not correct). Note / Clarification: Isra'il is "Isra'il bin Yunus al-Sabi'i", and Abu Ishaq is "'Amr bin 'Abd Allah", the grandfather of Isra'il. Reference / Source: Al-Nasa'i narrated it in (5031), combined with the next hadith, through the route of Abu Dawud Sulayman bin Sayf, from 'Ubayd Allah bin Musa, with this same chain. Reference / Source: Likewise Ahmad narrated it (combined) in 1/ (378) from Khalaf bin al-Walid, and Abu Dawud in (3670) through the route of Isma'il bin Ja'far; both of them narrate from Isra'il. (3138). Important point: In this regard see the earlier no. (3138).
