Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: This is a "sahih hadith", and there is no harm in the narrators of this chain.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Wahb bin Munabbih explicitly stated that he heard from Jabir bin 'Abd Allah; despite that, Yahya bin Ma'in says that Wahb did not meet Jabir, rather it is a "written" narration (wijadah); in another place he also said that it is merely a "sahifah" (written collection) of no scholarly worth.

Reference / Source: A narration of similar meaning was narrated by Ahmad in 22/ (14228) and 23/ (15015, 15145, 15256), Muslim in (2012) (96), Ibn Majah in (360, 3410), al-Tirmidhi in (1812) and Ibn Hibban in (1271, 1275) through the route of Abu al-Zubayr al-Makki, from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him).
Note / Clarification: A similar narration will come later with the author at no. (7955) through the route of 'Ata' bin Yasar, from Jabir, where its complete takhrij will be given.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it in 23/ (14974), al-Bukhari in (5605), Muslim in (2011) and Abu Dawud in (3734) through the route of Abu Salih and Abu Sufyan, from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), that Abu Humayd brought a cup of milk from "al-Naqi'" (a place near Madinah), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Why did you not cover it, even if only by placing a stick across it?"
Note / Clarification: In some narrations Abu Salih and Abu Sufyan are not mentioned together; rather it is narrated from only one of them.
Reference / Source: Ahmad narrated it in 23/ (14829) and Muslim in (2014) through the route of al-Qa'qa' bin Hakim, from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), as marfu': "Cover the vessels and tie up the waterskins, for in the year there is a night in which a plague (disease) descends; it does not pass by an uncovered vessel or a waterskin that is not tied, except that some of that plague descends into it."
General principle: His (peace and blessings be upon him) words "tie up the waterskins" mean: tie the mouths of the waterskins firmly with a cord (wika'), so that no animal can enter them and nothing (harmful) can fall into them.
