أخبرنا أبو جعفر محمد بن محمد البغدادي، حدثنا علي بن المبارك الصنعاني، حدثنا إسماعيل بن عبد الكريم أبو هشام الصَّنعاني، حدثني إبراهيم بن عَقيل بن معقل بن مُنبِّه، عن أبيه، عَقيل عن وهب قال هذا ما سألتُ عنه جابر بن عبد الله الأنصاري، وأخبرني أنَّ النبيَّ ﷺ كان يقولُ: "أَوكِئوا الأسقيةَ، وغَلِّقُوا: الأبوابَ إذا رَقَدتُم بالليل، وخمِّروا الشرابَ والطعامَ، فإنَّ الشيطانَ يأتي، فإن لم يجدِ الباب مغلقًا دخلَه، وإن لم يجدِ السِّقاءَ مُوكًى شَرِبَ منه، وإن وجد البابَ مغلقًا والسِّقاءَ مُوكًى، لم يَحُلَّ وِكاء، ولم يفتح بابًا مغلقًا، وإن لم يجد أحدُكم لإنائه ما يُخمِّرُه به، فليَعرُضْ عليه عُودًا" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "When you go to sleep at night, tie up the mouths of the waterskins, shut the doors and cover the food and drink, for Satan comes: if he finds the door open he enters, and if he finds the waterskin not tied he drinks from it; but if he finds the door shut and the waterskin tied, he neither undoes the tie nor opens a shut door. And if any of you finds nothing with which to cover his vessel, let him at least place a stick across it."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

حدثني عبد الله بن سعد الحافظ، حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم بن سعيد (1) العَبْدي، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن عمر القواريري، حدثنا حَرَميُّ بن عُمارة، حدثني الحَريش (2) بن الخِرِّيث، حدثني ابن أبي مُلَيكة، عن عائشة أنها قالت: كنَّا نصنعُ لرسولِ الله ﷺ ثلاثَ أَوانٍ (3) مُخَمَّرة: إناءَ طَهُوره، وإناءً لسِواكِه، وإناءً لشرابِه (4).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: We used to prepare three covered vessels for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): one for his (peace and blessings be upon him) purification (ablution), one for his (peace and blessings be upon him) tooth-stick (miswak), and one for his (peace and blessings be upon him) drink.
