وحدثنا علي بن حَمْشَاذ، حدّثنا عُبيد بن عبد الواحد، حدّثنا يعقوب بن كعب الأنطاكي، حدّثنا يحيى بن المتوكِّل البصري، عن ابن جُرَيج، عن الزُّهْري، عن أنس: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ لَبِسَ خاتمًا نَقْشُه: محمدٌ رسولُ الله، فكان إذا دخل الخلاءَ وَضَعَه (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه، إنما خرَّجا حديثَ نَقْش الخاتم فقط (3).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wore a ring engraved with "Muhammad Rasulullah (Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah)", and when he (peace and blessings be upon him) went to the toilet he would take it off.
Imam al-Hakim says: This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they only recorded the mention of the ring's engraving.

(2) إسناده ضعيف كسابقه. وضعَّفه البيهقي في "السنن الكبرى" 1/ 95 بعد أن رواه عن المصنّف بهذا الإسناد. وانظر تتمة الكلام عليه في التعليق على "سنن أبي داود".
Grading: Its chain is da'if, like the one before it.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi, in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" 1/ 95, graded it weak after narrating it from the author (al-Hakim) with this same chain.

(3) حديث نقش الخاتم فقط عند البخاريّ برقم (65)، ومسلم برقم (2092) من حديث أنس بن مالك أيضًا، لكن من غير هذا الوجه الذي عند المصنّف.
Reference / Source: The hadith about the engraving of the ring is also with al-Bukhari (65) and Muslim (2092) from Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), but through a route other than the one the author mentioned.
Grading: Its chain is da'if, like the one before it.
