Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing tayammum at a place called "Mirbad al-Na'am", while the houses of Madinah were visible to him (peace and blessings be upon him).
Amr bin Muhammad is alone in narrating this hadith, and he is truthful (saduq), whereas Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari and others narrated it as mawquf on Ibn Umar.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: As marfu', its chain is weak. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Sinan al-Qazzaz is disputed, and Amr bin Muhammad bin Abi Razin is saduq but sometimes erred. Both were contradicted in narrating this hadith as marfu', and the correct view is that it is mawquf on Ibn Umar, as will come. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" 1/ 224 and "al-Khilafiyyat" (859) from Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim, with this chain; in "al-Sunan" he paired others with him. Grading: Al-Bayhaqi said regarding its being marfu': it is not mahfuz (preserved). Reference / Source: Al-Daraqutni recorded it in his "Sunan" (716) via several routes from Muhammad bin Sinan al-Qazzaz, with it. Technical note / Defect ('illah): In "al-Ilal" 12/ 305 (2737) he said that others narrate it from Ubayd Allah, from Nafi', from Ibn Umar as mawquf, and likewise Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani, Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari and Muhammad bin Ishaq (the author of al-Maghazi) narrated it from Nafi', from Ibn Umar, as his own action, mawquf. Reference / Source: We say: as for the narration of Ayyub al-Sakhtiyani, Ibn Abi Shaybah recorded it in his "Musannaf" 1/ 158, and the narration of Yahya bin Sa'id is with the author in the following hadith. Important point: As for the narration of Ibn Ishaq, we have not come across it. Reference / Source: Muhammad bin Ajlan also narrated it from Nafi' as mawquf; it was recorded by Abd al-Razzaq (884), al-Daraqutni in "al-Ilal" 13/ 32, and al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan" 1/ 224, "Ma'rifat al-Sunan wa al-Athar" (1641) and "al-Khilafiyyat" (860). Grading: Al-Bayhaqi said: that is what is mahfuz (preserved), i.e. as mawquf. 5/ 98. Note / Clarification: "Mirbad al-Na'am" is a place two miles from al-Madinah, as Yaqut stated in "Mu'jam al-Buldan" 5/ 98.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): But Ibn Hibban said in his "al-Thiqat" about this narrator: "Perhaps he erred." Important point: Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar stated in "Taghliq al-Ta'liq" (2/ 185) that his narrating this hadith as marfu' (attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) is among the things in which he erred. And Allah knows best.
