Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 627

It is narrated from Fatimah bint Abi Hubaysh (may Allah be pleased with her) that she suffered from istihadah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to her: "Menstrual blood is black and recognisable. When that is present, refrain from prayer; and when it is the other (the blood of istihadah), perform ablution and pray, for it is only (blood from) a vein."
