It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): If he has intercourse with her during menstruation (while the blood is flowing), then one dinar; and if he does so after the blood has stopped (before she has bathed), then he should give half a dinar in charity.
This hadith has also been narrated as mursal and as mawquf, but our principle is that the musnad and muttasil (connected) narration of a trustworthy narrator is what counts.
