حَدَّثَنَا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يعقوب الحافظ، حَدَّثَنَا يحيى بن محمد بن يحيى، حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن عبد الله بن يونس، حَدَّثَنَا الحسن بن صالح بن حيٍّ، عن بُكَير بن عامر البَجَلي، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي نُعْم، عن المغيرة بن شُعبة: أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ مسح على الخُفَّين، فقلت: يا رسول الله، نَسِيتَ؟ قال: "لا، بل أنت نَسِيتَ، بهذا أَمَرني ربي ﷿" (2). قد اتفق الشيخان على إخراج طرق حديث المغيرة بن شعبة في المسح (1)، ولم يُخرجا قوله ﷺ: "بهذا أمرني ربي" وإسناده صحيح!

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped over his leather socks. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, have you forgotten?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather it is you who have forgotten. My Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, has commanded me to do this."
The two Shaykhs recorded other narrations of Mughirah bin Shu'bah about wiping, but they did not record his (peace and blessings be upon him) saying "My Lord has commanded me to do this," although its chain is sahih (authentic).

Grading: Its chain is weak.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its narrator Bukayr bin Amir al-Bajali is declared weak by the majority of hadith scholars.
