Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 611

Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) dispatched a military detachment, and they were struck by severe cold. When they returned to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded them to wipe over their turbans and their foot coverings (things that keep the feet warm).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it with this wording; they agreed on other narrations about wiping over the turban.
