Explanation & Benefits

Grading: This hadith is sahih. Technical note / Defect ('illah): When Imam Abu Dawud (99) narrated it through Abu Kurayb, a man who is not named was mentioned between Hammad bin Salamah and Hisham, while in the narration of Musa bin Isma'il the name of 'Urwah has dropped out; its full details are in the notes on Abu Dawud. Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Imam al-Bukhari (261) and Muslim (321) narrated from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and I used to bathe from one vessel, and our hands would go into it in turn". Note / Clarification: "Al-shabah" refers to brass or copper (an alloy).
