حدَّثَناه أبو عبد الله محمد بن أحمد بن موسى القاضي ببُخارى، حدثنا محمد بن أيوب، حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن أبي جعفر الرازي، حدثنا سليمان بن مُسافِع بن شَيْبة الحَجَبي قال: سمعت منصورَ ابنَ صفيَّة بنت شَيْبة يحدِّث عن أمِّه صفيَّة، عن عائشة: [أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال في الهرَّة: "إنها ليست بنَجَسٍ، هي كبعض أهلِ البيت (2)] " (3). وقد صحَّ على شرط الشيخين ضدُّ هذا، ولم يُخرجاه أيضًا:

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said about the cat: "It is not impure; it is like one of the members of the household."
What is contrary to this has been authenticated on the condition of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, and they did not record that either.

(2) ما بين المعقوفين مكانه بياض في الأصول، واستدركناه من "السنن الكبرى" للبيهقي 1/ 246 حيث رواه عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم بإسناده ومتنه.
Important point: The text between the brackets [ ] was blank in the original manuscripts; we completed it from Imam al-Bayhaqi's "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (1/246), where he narrated it with the chain and text of Imam Abu 'Abd Allah al-Hakim.
(3) إسناده ضعيف لجهالة سليمان بن مسافع الحجبي.
Grading: This chain is weak because Sulayman bin Musafi' al-Hajabi is "majhul" (of unknown status).
وأخرجه ابن خزيمة (102)، والعقيلي في "الضعفاء" (593)، والدارقطني (217) من طريق محمد بن عبد الله بن أبي جعفر، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam Ibn Khuzaymah (102), al-'Uqayli in "al-Du'afa'" (593) and al-Daraqutni (217) narrated it through Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah bin Abi Ja'far, with this same chain.
وأحسن منه إسنادًا ما أخرجه أبو داود (76) من طريق داود بن صالح التمار، عن أمه، عن عائشة مرفوعًا بلفظ: "إنها ليست بنجس، إنما هي من الطوَّافين عليكم" قالت عائشة: وقد رأيتُ رسولَ الله ﷺ يتوضأ بفضلها.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A better chain than this is the one Imam Abu Dawud (76) transmitted as marfu' via Dawud bin Salih al-Tammar, from his mother, from 'A'ishah: "The cat is not impure; it is one of those who go around among you". 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) make wudu with the water left over by a cat.
