It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about performing ablution after the ritual bath (ghusl), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What ablution could be better than the ritual bath?"
Imam al-Hakim says: Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Bazi' is trustworthy (thiqah), while other narrators have reported it as mawquf (as the saying of the Companion).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In manuscript (B) this name has been corrupted (tahrif) and written as "'Abd Allah" (without the diminutive form).
Grading: This narration is sahih as "mawquf" on Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), as will come later, and Imam al-Dhahabi declared this correct in his "Talkhis". Technical note / Defect ('illah): Apart from the author's (al-Hakim's) teacher, all the narrators of this chain are thiqah, and concerning the teacher, Imam al-Dhahabi said in "Mizan al-I'tidal" that he was, in sha' Allah, "saduq". 'Abd al-A'la refers to "'Abd al-A'la bin 'Abd al-A'la al-Sami". Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (13377) through two routes from Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah bin Bazi', with this same chain. Technical note / Defect ('illah): Contradicting Ibn Bazi', 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated it in his "Musannaf" (1040) from 'Ubayd Allah bin 'Umar (the printed edition mistakenly has 'Abd Allah), from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, as "mawquf". (1039). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Likewise, Ibn Jurayj also narrated it from Nafi' as "mawquf" with 'Abd al-Razzaq (1039). Reference / Source: Salim bin 'Abd Allah bin 'Umar narrated it in 'Abd al-Razzaq (1038) and al-Bayhaqi (1/ 178), and Ghunaym bin Qays in Ibn Abi Shaybah (1/ 68), as a saying of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) (mawquf). Grading: The chains of both of them are sahih.
