The water of the sea is pure and its dead animals are lawful

فحدَّثَناه عبد الباقي بن قانع (2) الحافظ، حدثنا محمد بن علي بن شعيب، حدثنا الحسن بن بِشْر، حدثنا المُعافى بن عِمْران، عن ابن جُريج، عن أبي الزُّبير، عن جابر، عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال في البحر: "هو الطَّهورُ ماؤُه، الحِلُّ مَيْتَتُه" (3). وأما حديث عبد الله بن عَمْرو:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about the sea: "Its water is purifying and its dead (animals) are lawful." As for the hadith of Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both):

(2) تحرَّف في النسخ الخطية إلى: نافع. وابن قانع هذا إمام حافظ له كتاب "معجم الصحابة"، وانظر ترجمته في "السير" للذهبي 15/ 526.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts this name has been corrupted (tahrif) into "Nafi'", whereas he is "Ibn Qani'", an imam and hafiz and the author of "Mu'jam al-Sahabah".

(3) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن إن كان سلم من تدليس ابن جريج.
Grading: This hadith is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" if it is free of the tadlis of Ibn Jurayj (that is, if he stated that he heard it directly).
وأخرجه الدارقطني (69) عن عبد الباقي بن قانع، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Daraqutni (69) recorded it with the chain of 'Abd al-Baqi bin Qani', in the same way.
وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" (1759) عن محمد بن علي بن شعيب، به.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (1759) through Muhammad bin 'Ali bin Shu'ayb.
وأخرجه الدارقطني في "السنن" (68) من طريق مبارك بن فضالة، عنه أبي الزبير، به.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Daraqutni recorded it in his "Sunan" (68) through Mubarak bin Fadalah from Abu al-Zubayr.
وأخرجه أحمد 23/ (15012)، ومن طريقه ابن ماجه (388)، وابن حبان (1244) عن أبي القاسم بن أبي الزناد، عن إسحاق بن حازم، عن عبيد الله بن مقسم عن جابر بن عبد الله. وهذا إسناد حسن.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad 23/ (15012), and through him Ibn Majah (388), and Ibn Hibban (1244) recorded it with the chain Abu al-Qasim bin Abi al-Zinad from Ishaq bin Hazim from 'Ubayd Allah bin Miqsam from Jabir bin 'Abd Allah (may Allah be pleased with him).
Grading: This chain is "hasan".
