Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 44

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Taking evil omens is part of shirk, and there is none of us (in whose heart something of it does not occur), but Allah Almighty removes it through reliance (on Him)."
The chain of this hadith is sahih and its narrators are trustworthy, but the two of them (Imam Bukhari and Muslim) did not narrate it. Isa bin Asim al-Asadi also took narrations from Adiyy bin Thabit and others, and Shu'bah, Jarir bin Hazim, Mu'awiyah bin Salih and others narrated from him.

Hadith Takhrij «
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is "sahih" like the previous one. After the hadith, al-Tirmidhi quoted from al-Bukhari that Sulayman bin Harb said about the words of this hadith, "and there is none of us, but Allah removes it through reliance": In my view, this is the statement of Abd Allah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) (inserted into the hadith)!
