حدثنا أبو زكريا يحيى بن محمد العَنبَري، حدثنا محمد بن عبد السلام، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم أخبرنا وَكيع، عن علي بن صالح، عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عَقِيل، عن جابر بن عبد الله: ﴿أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ﴾ [النساء: 59] قال: أُولي الفقه والخير (2).
هذا حديث صحيح له شاهد، وتفسير الصحابي عندهما مُسنَد (1).

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), explaining the saying of Allah Almighty: "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you (rulers / people of knowledge)" [Surah al-Nisa: 59], said: It refers to the people of fiqh (understanding of the religion) and of goodness.
This hadith is sahih, and according to the two Shaykhs a Companion's tafsir (explanation of the Qur'an) has the status of a musnad (a report traced to the Prophet).

(2) إسناده حسن في المتابعات والشواهد من أجل عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل.
Grading: In light of the corroborating chains and supporting reports, this chain is "hasan" on account of 'Abd Allah bin Muhammad bin 'Aqil.
وأخرجه البيهقي في "المدخل إلى السنن الكبرى" (268) عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد. وأخرجه ابن أبي شيبة 12/ 213 عن وكيع، به.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Madkhal ila al-Sunan al-Kubra" (268) from Abu 'Abd Allah al-Hakim with this same chain. Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah also recorded it in 12/ 213 through Waki' bin al-Jarrah.
وأخرجه ابن أبي حاتم في "تفسيره" 3/ 988، والطحاوي في "مشكل الآثار" 4/ 182، وابن عبد البر في "بيان العلم وفضله" (1419) من طريق الحسن بن صالح، عن عبد الله بن محمد بن عقيل، به.
Reference / Source: Ibn Abi Hatim narrated it in his "Tafsir" 3/ 988, Imam al-Tahawi in "Mushkil al-Athar" 4/ 182 and Ibn 'Abd al-Barr in "Bayan al-'Ilm wa Fadlih" (1419) through the route of al-Hasan bin Salih, from 'Abd Allah bin Muhammad bin 'Aqil.
وأخرجه البيهقي في "المدخل" أيضًا (268)، والخطيب في "الفقيه والمتفقه" (91) من طريق ابن جريج، عن أبي الزبير، عن جابر. وفي السند إليه ضعف.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Bayhaqi narrated it in "al-Madkhal" (268) and al-Khatib al-Baghdadi in "al-Faqih wa al-Mutafaqqih" (91) through the route of Ibn Jurayj, from Abu al-Zubayr, from Jabir; however, there is weakness in the part of the chain leading up to Ibn Jurayj.
