It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to the funeral of a man from the Ansar. When we reached the grave, the lahd (niche) had not yet been dug, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down and we sat around him (with such stillness and reverence) as though birds were perched on our heads (that would fly away at the slightest movement).
This hadith has already been established as sahih in the Book of Iman, though the two Shaykhs did not record it.
