Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4189

حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق السُّلَمي، حدثنا أحمد بن نصر، حدثنا عمرو بن حمّاد القَنّاد، حدثنا أسباط بن نَصْر، عن السُّدِّي، عن أبي مالك، عن ابن عبّاس. وعن السُّدِّي، عن مُرّة، عن عبد الله، قالوا: كان آخرَ أنبياء بني إسرائيل زكريا بنُ أدن بن مسلم، وكان من ذُرّية يعقوب، قال: ﴿يَرِثُنِي﴾ مُلْكي ﴿وَيَرِثُ مِنْ آلِ يَعْقُوبَ﴾ النبوةَ (2).

Abu Malik narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), and Murrah from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him); they said: The last prophet of the Children of Israel was Zakariyya bin Adan bin Muslim, and he was from the descendants of Ya'qub (peace be upon him). He said (in explanation of this verse): "'Who will inherit from me' my kingdom, 'and inherit from the family of Ya'qub' prophethood."

(2) إسناده حسن من أجل السُّدِّي - وهو إسماعيل بن عبد الرحمن - وأسباط بن نَصْر. وروي عن السُّدِّي بإسناده المذكور في تفسير قول الله تعالى: ﴿يَرِثُنِي﴾: يرث نبوتي، كما سيأتي برقم (4191).
Grading: Its chain is hasan on account of al-Suddi (Isma'il bin 'Abd al-Rahman) and Asbat bin Nasr.
Note / Clarification: It is narrated from al-Suddi, with the same chain, in the explanation of Allah's words "yarithuni" ("he will inherit from me") that it means "he will inherit my prophethood," as will come under no. (4191).
