It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, every Prophet has friends (and patrons) among the Prophets, and indeed my friend among them and my intimate friend is my forefather (Ibrahim, peace be upon him)." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "Indeed, the people closest to Ibrahim" to the end [Surah Al Imran: 68].
(Imam al-Hakim says:) When the hadith of Abu Nu'aym is combined with the hadith of al-Waqidi, it is established as sahih (authentic), because Masruq must be in it.
