حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن سِنان القَزّاز، حدثنا أبو علي عُبيد الله بن عبد المجيد الحنفي، حدثنا إبراهيم بن نافع قال: سمعت كثير بن كَثير يُحدّث عن سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عبّاس قال: جاء إبراهيم ﵇ فوجد إسماعيل يُصلح له بيتًا من وراء زمزم، فقال له إبراهيم: يا إسماعيل، إن ربك قد أمرني [ببناء البيت] (1)، فقال له إسماعيل: فأطِعْ ربَّك فيما أمرك، قال: فأعِنِّي عليه، قال: فقام معه، فجعل إبراهيم يبنيه وإسماعيل يُناوله الحجارة، ويقولان: ﴿رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ﴾ [البقرة: 127] (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) came and found Isma'il (peace be upon him) repairing a house of his behind Zamzam. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said to him: 'O Isma'il, your Lord has commanded me to build the House of Allah.' Isma'il (peace be upon him) said to him: 'Then obey your Lord in what He has commanded you.' Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said: 'Then help me with this task.' Isma'il (peace be upon him) agreed (saying he was ready), and he stood up with him. Ibrahim (peace be upon him) began building it and Isma'il (peace be upon him) began handing him the stones, and the two of them kept saying (this supplication): 'Our Lord, accept (this service) from us; indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing' [Surah al-Baqarah: 127]."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it.

(1) قوله: ببناء البيت، لم يرد في النسخ الخطية، وأثبتناه من المطبوع، ولا بد من ذكره، فقد ثبت في رواية محمد بن سنان القزاز عند الطبري في "تفسيره" 1/ 550 - 551، بلفظ: أمرني أن أبني له بيتًا. وهو ثابت لجميع من روى هذا الحديث من رواية غير محمد بن سنان أيضًا.
Note / Clarification: The words "bi-bina' al-bayt" (to build the House) did not occur in the manuscripts; we added them from the printed edition, and they must be mentioned. For they are established in the narration of Muhammad bin Sinan al-Qazzaz in al-Tabari's "Tafsir" (1/550-551) with the wording: "He commanded me to build a House for Him." They are also established in the version of everyone who narrated this hadith through narrators other than Muhammad bin Sinan.
(2) خبر صحيح، وهذا إسناد حسن في المتابعات والشواهد من أجل محمد بن سنان القزاز، وهو متابع.
Grading: This report is sahih, and this chain is "hasan" in corroborating chains and supporting reports because of Muhammad bin Sinan al-Qazzaz, and he has been corroborated.
وأخرجه البخاري (3365)، والنسائي (8321) من طريق أبي عامر عبد الملك بن عمرو العقدي، والنسائي (8321) من طريق عثمان بن عمر العبدي، كلاهما عن إبراهيم بن نافع، بهذا الإسناد. واستدراك الحاكم له ذهولٌ منه.
Reference / Source: Imam al-Bukhari (3365) and al-Nasa'i (8321) narrated it via Abu 'Amir 'Abd al-Malik bin 'Amr al-'Aqadi, and al-Nasa'i (8321) via 'Uthman bin 'Umar al-'Abdi; both from Ibrahim bin Nafi', with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: Al-Hakim's including it as a supplement (in al-Mustadrak) is an oversight on his part (since it is in al-Bukhari).
