حدثنا الحسين بن الحسن بن أيوب، حدثنا أبو حاتم الرازي، حدثنا موسى بن إسماعيل، حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن ثابت البناني، عن الحسن، عن عُتَي بن ضَمْرة، عن أبي بن كعب، عن النبي ﷺ، قال: "لما تُوفّي آدم غسلته الملائكة بالماء وترًا وألْحَدُوا له، وقالوا: هذه سنة آدم في ولده" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يخرجاه. [ذكر نوح النبي ﷺ] واختلفوا في نوح وإدريس، فقيل: إن إدريس قبله، وأكثر الصحابة على أن نوحًا قبل إدريس، صلى الله عليهما.

هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يخرجاه. [ذكر نوح النبي ﷺ] واختلفوا في نوح وإدريس، فقيل: إن إدريس قبله، وأكثر الصحابة على أن نوحًا قبل إدريس، صلى الله عليهما.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Adam (peace be upon him) passed away, the angels washed him with water an odd number of times (once, three or five times), and dug a niche grave (lahd) for him, and said: 'This is the sunnah of Adam (peace be upon him) for his children.'"
Mention of Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon him): The scholars differ about Nuh and Idris (peace be upon them both). Some have said that Idris (peace be upon him) came before him, while most of the Companions hold that Nuh (peace be upon him) came before Idris (peace be upon him). May Allah's mercy and peace be upon them both. The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

(2) رجاله لا بأس بهم، لكنه اختلف في رفعه ووقفه، كما نبه عليه البخاري في "تاريخه الكبير" 1/ 79. الحسن: هو البصري.
Grading: Its narrators are unobjectionable, but there is disagreement over whether it is marfu' or mawquf, as al-Bukhari pointed out in his "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (1/79). Al-Hasan is "al-Basri".
وأخرجه الحسين المحاملي في "أماليه" برواية ابن يحيى البَيِّع (403)، والطبراني في "الأوسط" (8261)، وابن عدي 3/ 143، وابن عساكر 7/ 455، والضياء المقدسي في "المختارة" 4/ (1252) من طريق روح بن أسلم، عن حماد بن سلمة، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Husayn al-Mahamili narrated it in his "Amali" (in the recension of Ibn Yahya al-Bayyi', 403), al-Tabarani in "al-Awsat" (8261), Ibn 'Adi (3/143), Ibn 'Asakir (7/455) and al-Diya' al-Maqdisi in "al-Mukhtarah" (4/1252) via Rawh bin Aslam, from Hammad bin Salamah, with this same chain.
وقد تقدم برقم (1291) من طريق يونس بن عُبيد عن الحسن البصري. وبرقم (1292) من طريق ابن الهاد عن الحسن عن أبي بن كعب، بإسقاط عُتي، والصحيح ذكره كما في رواية قتادة ويونس بن عبيد وثابت البناني عن الحسن.
Reference / Source: It has already appeared at number (1291) via Yunus bin 'Ubayd, from al-Hasan al-Basri; and at number (1292) via Ibn al-Had, from al-Hasan, from Ubayy bin Ka'b, with 'Utayy dropped, whereas the correct version includes him, as in the narration of Qatadah, Yunus bin 'Ubayd and Thabit al-Bunani from al-Hasan.
