It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning "His wealth and what he earned will not avail him" [Surah al-Masad: 2], that he said: "His earnings means his children."
Ahmad bin Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ibn Uyaynah did not mention his hearing (sama') in it; then it reached me that he heard it from Umar bin Habib.

Grading: The report is sahih; its narrators are trustworthy, but Sufyan did not mention in it his hearing from al-Zuhri, as Ahmad bin Hanbal said. If it is established that he heard it from Umar bin Habib, then the chain is connected and sahih. This Umar bin Habib is the Makkan judge who settled in Yemen, and he is a trustworthy hafiz. Al-Dhahabi made an oversight in his "Talkhis" and took him to be al-'Adawi al-Basri, the weak one, and so declared it weak, although both of them have biographies in "al-Tahdhib". Al-Fadl bin Muhammad is al-Sha'rani, and Ubaydullah is Ibn Abdullah bin 'Utbah bin Mas'ud. Reference / Source: Abd al-Razzaq recorded it in his "Tafsir" (2/406) from Ma'mar, from Qatadah, from Ibn Abbas. It is munqati'; Qatadah did not hear from Ibn Abbas.
