Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is da'if. 'Uqbah, who narrates from Ali, is Ibn Zabyan, not Ibn Suhban as occurs in the narration of the author (al-Hakim) and, from him, al-Bayhaqi ("al-Sunan al-Kubra" 2/29). He is majhul; Imam Ahmad also did not know him (as in "'Ilal al-Rijal" 1644); despite that, Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat" (5/227).
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari recorded it in "al-Tarikh al-Kabir" (6/437), al-Tabari in his "Tafsir" (30/325), Ibn al-Mundhir in "al-Awsat" (1280), al-Tha'labi in his "Tafsir" (10/310) and al-Bayhaqi (2/30) via various routes from Hammad bin Salamah, with the same chain. Some of them made it from Hammad from 'Asim al-Jahdari from his father from 'Uqbah from Ali, and some made it from Hammad from 'Asim from 'Uqbah from his father from Ali.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is another defect ('illah) in the chain, namely idtirab (inconsistency), and they added at its end: "Then he placed it on his chest."
Reference / Source: Abd al-Razzaq recorded it in his "Tafsir" (2/401), Ibn Abi Shaybah (1/390), al-Bukhari (6/437), al-Tabari (30/325), al-Daraqutni in "al-Sunan" (1099), al-Tha'labi (10/310-311) and al-Diya' in "al-Ahadith al-Mukhtarah" (2/673) via Yazid bin Ziyad bin Abi al-Ja'd, from 'Asim al-Jahdari, from 'Uqbah bin Zuhayr (so he named him), from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).
Note / Clarification: In manuscript (Z) it is corrupted into "Wuhayb". This Wahb is Ibn Ibrahim al-Fami, Abu Ali al-Razi, who was a companion of Abu Zur'ah al-Razi, as Ibn Abi Hatim said in "al-Jarh wa al-Ta'dil" (9/29); he said: "I heard from him together with my father, and he is saduq, thiqah." Ibn Hibban mentioned him in "al-Thiqat" (9/229), but in its printed edition it appears as "Wahb bin Ibrahim bin Abi Marju"!
